Lu’aus

Lu’aus Feast at Lele (in Lahaina) 808-667-5353
The shows at Lu’aus are usually exciting and fast paced. Maui’s Lu’aus usually have all you can eat and drink (including alcohol) for a set fee.
Not your typical Lu’au, but it is the classiest of the bunch. No pig ceremony, and no waiting in lines. Each party has its own table. The view is the best, right next to the beach, and everyone gets a view. The food is INCREDIBLE with dishes from Hawai’i, Tonga, Tahiti and Samoa. The service is great! You often have to book well in advance. Highly recommended. They seat 135.
Old Lahaina Lu’au 808- 667-1998
The show has a more authentic Hawaiian feel than the others. The service is wonderful and the food is quite tasty. They do fill up most of the time, so book in advance. Located In Lahaina, on Front Street across from Lahaina Canner.

Wailea, Maui, Hawaii Restaurants

Spago 3900 Wailea Alanui Drive 808-879-2999
This is Wolfgang Puck’s Maui restaurant. The dishes are simply unbelievable. Actually, everything I have eaten there has been good. Portions are pretty small, and you drop a lot of money quick here. Their beautiful ocean view and world-class cooking make Spago a treat. $35-$65. Reservations recommended.

Sarento’s on the Beach 2980 S. Kihei Road 808-879-7555
This place has one of the best locations, oceanfront, and beautiful sunset views. It has good service, and pretty good food. Photograhpers are available if you want a professional sunset picture take, and there are usually leis and flowers available for purchase, as well. Fresh fish, steak, and pasta. $30-$50. Reservations recommended.
Tommy Bahama’s Tropical Cafe 3750 Wailea Alanui Drive 808- 875-9983
Tommy Bahama’s has an islandy, tropical, tasteful atmosphere. I actually enjoy coming here for lunch more than dinner. Their crab bisque that is very tasty, and the Loki Loki Tuna Poke is unbelievable! The Caesar salad is made with homemade dressing with shaved parmesan. The drinks at Tommy’s are quite good and unique. This place is good for dinner as well and usually has live music starting at 5pm. The Old San Juan Shrimp and Scallops is an excellent choice for dinner. Located in the Shops at Wailea, with prices ranging from $15 - $40.

Worth the Drive

Mama’s Fish House 799 Poho Place (NE of Pa’ia on Hwy 36) 808-579-8488
This has got to be one of the biggest treat on island. Extremely delicious food, the ambiance is unbelievable, and always very attentive and great service. The only thing between you and the beach are picturesque palm trees. They serve mostly seafood. They credit the fishing boat or fisherman that caught each particular fish. This definitely is a place you don’t mind paying top dollar. $25-$50. Reservations strongly recommended.
Hali’imaile General Store900 Hali’imaile General Store 808-572-2666
This location is a surprise, but once you are there the food is excellent. They serve such items as seafood, steak, and kalua pork. They have won quite a few awards for their desserts. Celebs are known to frequent this place on occasion. (I met Oprah here once). $20-$40

My Favorite Breakfast/ Lunch Spots

Longhi’s 3750 Wailea Alanui Drive 808-891-8883
They have a great breakfast if you want to go the extra dollar. Lobster Benedict, Crab Benedict and Benedict Florentine are some of my favorites. They create a pretty good Bloody Mary as well… I enjoy having breakfast more than lunch or dinner here, however I do like sitting at the bar for a glass of wine or cocktail and a pupu. Breakfast $10 - $20. Lunch $10-$20, dinner can get quite expensive as everything is ala carte, $25-$50. Located at the Shops at Wailea.
Five Palms 2960 S. Kihei Road 808-879-2607
Five Palms has one of the best view of any restaurant. It looks down on Keawakapu Beach. I have had several breakfasts here and have yet to be disappointed. It can get pricey for dinner. They also have great pupus, or lunch as well. $10 - $20 breakfast/lunch $30-$50 dinner. In the Mauna Kai.

Kihei Café 1945 S. Kihei Rd 808-879-2230
Great local spot for breakfast. You go up to the counter and order and then they call out your name and bring it to your table. Food is great. They open on weekdays at 5:30 am. Can’t beat it for the price. $6 - $10. Across from Kalama Park.

Other Favorites

Mulligan’s on the Blue 100 Kaukahi Street 808-874-1131
Mulligan’s has an Irish pub atmosphere and offers Irish food such as fish and chips, corned beef, and my personal favorite - shepherd’s pie. They have live music almost every night, usually Irish music. Seating is available at indoor and outdoor tables. Located at the Wailea Blue Golf Course up from the Fairmont Kea Lani resort. $10-25. Great wine list!
Sansai Seafood & Sushi 1881 S. Kihei Road 808- 879-0004
The menu features sushi, as well as non-Japanese food, such as seafood pasta, lobster, and beef. My favorite here is the dynamite shrimp. The sauces here are incredible. They have karaoke and ½ off Sushi nights as well. Just be prepared to wait in line. $25 - $60 (which isn’t bad for sushi) Located at Kihei Town Center near Foodland.
Anthony’s 90 Hana Hwy (on the way to Hana in Pa’ia) 808-579-8340
Stop by for a nice coffee or an unbelievable selection of teas along with a baked good. I always have to bring some of this good stuff home with me.

Nightlife

Mulligan’s and Hapa’s Night Club
Always fun. The best way to find out what is going on is in the Maui News Newspaper. There is an insert called the Maui Scene. Grab a copy to see ’wassup’ this week.
