Every year in mid-January, Park City is host to the Sundance Film Festival, the largest independent film festival in the United States, showcasing the potential of independent filmmakers.
Park City was host to the 2002 Winter Olympics, with nearby ski resorts hosting various events. While in the area, be sure to visit the Utah Olympic Park to take a self-guided tour of the competition sites. Tour the 2002 Eccles Olympic Museum, where you can hold the Olympic Torch, view athlete’s equipment, and look at displays depicting Olympic events as well as highlights of the opening and closing ceremonies.
The Park City area is known for four season recreation. There are over 150 miles of trails surrounding Park City ideal for biking and hiking. Each ski area offers miles of scenic mountain trails through wooded areas and meadows. Take a ride on a gondola or chair lift for a bird’s eye view of the stunning Wasatch Mountain range or enjoy one of Park City’s many free outdoor concerts in the evening.
